My idea of beauty is being yourself and listening to what you think instead of others. My idea of life is pretty much the same: doing what you think is right and not caring what others think. I told this to my friend and she laughed. Is it silly? why or why not?Is my idea of beauty and life silly?
Your friend may have thought it silly because your views are almost classically idealistic. Too bad for her. Your views are quite beautiful. Hang on to them. The world will honor you for it.Is my idea of beauty and life silly?
its not silly. i think those qualities are actually a good thing. at least.. i think following ideas like that is what leads you to true happiness.
can u explain ur question briefly
I think that's about right. You should be in control of your own life which means not relying on others' opinions.
There's truth in nearly every statement. Truth can be ridden, however, with falsities. You're right and wrong. Yes, we ought to be ourselves. However, being ourselves does not happen in a vacuum - inevitably human beings ';acquire'; at least a portion of their individuality by mimicking others.. You learned to speak, write, and read English because other people did, or other people taught you. By learning a common language (common to your neighbors), you bonded and lost some of your alleged individuality. Also, you simply cannot ever stop caring about what others think - if we are to collectively survive as a society, we must look at each other to better be able to learn and help one another. You cannot survive alone. Quid pro quo - you need to give others some of you so that they can survive.
Would you be pleased if no one cared about what _you_ think?
It's not silly but there needs to be some absolutes in life as well. What if everyone lived and did what they thought was right? Pedophiles think it's right to hurt little kids. Thieves think it's right to steal. Some men and women think it's right to cheat on their significant others.
You are on the right path, don't let anyone lead you astray. Just check yourself every once in a while and make sure you are still right.
No way is that silly! I wish i could say the same. Good for you :)
of course not. if you listen to senses fail's lead singer, buddy, and his thought on the subject you would be surprised how much similar they are to yours. but he has a simple saying ';follow your bliss.'; so do what makes you happy, that way, you can never be sad! its actually quite brilliant. don't let anyone tell you different
I don't know if it's beauty or not, but you will surely have peace of mind.
it's not silly at all. it's a mature way of thinking about and reacting to life. but i have to point out - you said your philosophy is not caring what others think, yet you posted this, so it seems maybe you care that your friend laughed?
it's hard not to care about what friends/family think of us. especially when society is so big on saying it matters what you look like, how you dress, what you say etc.
like i said before, you're mature for thinking the way you do. don't stop. your friend might have laughed because she was uncomfortable with your ideas. or maybe she disagrees but cares too much about what you think of her to argue. either way, no, you're not silly. you're just ahead of your time. and that's a great place to be.
It's not your friend is probably young or immature at this point in his/her life.
