Black Beauty is a horse born on a farm. He is then sold to a family and meets Ginger and Mary Legs. One of the grooms is a boy named Joe. Beauty falls in love with Ginger. Then his mistress gets sick and must leave England, Black beauty and Ginger are sold to a rich lady who treats them like dirt. Black Beauty then must carry a drunk rider with a loose shoe. Beauty falls and injures his knees, They scare and he sold because of his scarred knees. He is sold to a man who lets people rent out horses. Later he is sold to Jerry a kind, gentle cab driver. One day while in the cab, Beauty sees Ginger, who is skin and bones, later on, he sees Ginger's body behind driven away on a cart. She had died. Jerry gets a terrible cold and must leave. Beauty is given to a wheat factory and is used to transport wheat from one place to another. Finally he could pull no more and was put into auctions.
