beauty therpay i would say has more money and career oppurtunities because you can go lots of ways eg:
make up artist
normal beauty therpaist ( you know doing all the normal things)
massage therpaist
aromatherpaist
nail techinian
etc
beauthy therapy is very tiring and hard work, and until you become good at it, the money is not amazing, bcos so many girls do it.
i trained on level 2 to do beauty therpay but i stupidly dropped out, beacuse it got too much. its worth it too get the certificate though! the girls can be bitchy however.
you have to be very social and kind and not be offended by people. also alot of clients are monay moody or smelly. like for instance if you do bikini wax not evryone will have washed themselves down there so it can get whiffy and also some times when you do pedicures they have horrible feet.
also if someone has a contraindication which means they have somehting which means you cannot carry out the treatment you have to tell them, and this can be very awkward and embarrasing for you both so you will have to be ready for that.
its a cut throat buisness so you have to be the best
are you:
confident?
proud?
well kept?
dedicated?
willing to try new things?
willing to meet new people?
etc
you have to bare many things in mind or else you wont to do well.
beautyh therapy is fun though and you wil expericnece many differnt people and places and you can have a laugh with evryone you work with and a little ***** about your clinets (nothing to rude but you know lol)
hairdressing is very tiring and repative as you do the same thing bascially every day:
hair dying
cutting
washing
blowdrying
hair extensions
etc
however if you are into hair and would love to give people crazy haircuts and styles then it would be good for you.
beautyhy therapy is more fun because there are so many ways you can go, the oppurtunities are endless.
you could even start your own massage business or create funkt desings on peoples nails!
whatever you choose remember they are not as fun and easy as people think, beauthy therapy is hard and you have to learn anatomy and physiology so that you know what differnt parts of the body and skin are. you have to know the skin very well beacuse you work with it alot for instance when you do facials.
facials were my faveorite part of my training they are fun to do and nice to get done back to you, because when you do the training for beauthy therpay you all practice on eachover and evrything gets done to you.
you have to get all the treatments done to you so that you can tell the clients what they are like. unless you have a medical conditon then there no getting out of it!
learning the anatomy and physiology is hard at first but you can do it youll learn about the skind dermis epedermis and subcutaneous layer it is intersting!
good luck xxx
the girls in mine were ok beacuse i was the youngest one i was 16 when i did it and they were all between 18 and 40, i was the little girl lol so they really helped me! you really have to work hard and make sure you complete everything trust me there are bare on to making sure you have got everything perfectly!!! lol the reason i dropped out was beacuse my teacher was rubbish to, she was often hungover because she was only like 25 or somehting, people in the class were older than her!!

What should be seen in real love ? Beauty, Personality, style, or your liking?
For a rich person all the girl friend shows as they are the real lover ? But what should be found while choosing a real friend ? I am searching for atrue friend ?What should be seen in real love ? Beauty, Personality, style, or your liking?
likingWhat should be seen in real love ? Beauty, Personality, style, or your liking?
You can find very useful tips on http://www.healinginstitute.info Report Abuse
Personality and similar beliefs.
the beauty should get you to notice them, and their personality should draw you in
A true friend is always there when you need a shoulder to cry on, always stands up for you no matter what, will never betray you. A true friend is basically someone you can trust anytime, anywhere.
your inner self will tell you that your lover is a real one or not.
Style isn't going to help you when you are old and need someone to take care of you.
True love is.
see whtever u say the first thing that allures some1 is one's outward appearence
but believe me this attraction is very shortlived
the inner beauty is the most substancial asset of the indivitual
go 4 ur liking 'coz that 's never decided by outer self
LOVE SOME1 WHO LOVES U AND NOT UR MONEY
WHO CARES 4 U AS A PERSON AND NOT A MILLIONEER

What do people mean by the phrase ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder?';?
Everyone has their own perception of what beauty really is. Which is great really, just imagine we all liked the same person..
=)What do people mean by the phrase ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder?';?
It simply means that everyone has their own idea of beauty and therefore two people can look at the same person and judge them totally differently. What do people mean by the phrase ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder?';?
It means that each person sees things differently. One person might think something is ugly while to the other person it is beautiful - hence the phrase.
Beauty means different things to different people.
I think it refers to the beauty of appearance and means that beauty is relative - what you find beautiful might not necessarily mean I find beautiful too. Its a taste thing or rather a mind thing.
I like the Pythagoras theory - something symetric is easier on the eye than something asymetric although I find the asymetric more interesting to look at ;)
One mans ceiling is another man's floor.
Each person sees beauty in their own way. One person will like a living room painted burnt orange another will think it's hideous.
That each person or ';beholder'; has a different concept of ';beauty';, a thin boy might be handsome for you, since another girl might like fat boys, a blonde girl might be attractive for a man, while another man rathers brunettes; so ';beauty'; or the concept of beauty, who you qualify as ';beautiful'; depends on what you like, is very subjective, that's why it depends on each person, on the ';eye'; or perspective of each ';beholder';.
Everyone has a different outlook on beauty. One girl may look beautiful to some, but ugly to others. It all depends on what characteristics people like. Some may like a thin girl, and others may like a more curvier girl.
What you consider beautiful I may consider ugly therefore beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The beholder being yourself if you consider it beautiful.
well one persons beauty is an-others nightmare,,,,
one person's minger is another person's sex god!!!
It another way of saying that tastes are subjective and entirely personal.
For example: I think you look great on your Avatar.
Another person may not agree with me or think even the opposite!
';one mans food is another mans poison...';
it means everyone has a different idea of what beauty is, one person may find someone drop dead gorgeous while the next may think their dead ugly :)
Beauty is subjective.
tHATS SELF EXPLANATORY....YOU AND I MAY SEE THE SKY DIFFERENTLY,NEVERTHELESS IT'S ALWAYS BLUE.
It means one who thinks one is beautiful than one is .Beautiness cannot be judge from just from your dress or face. The fact that most matter is how beautiful your heart or your inner soul is?Also your judgment also mean a lot. It's up to you how see the thing ,how can you recognize the beauty in that thing?
Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder, otherwise people who everyone else sees as ';dead ugly'; would never get a partner that truely loves them.
I actually know someone who is so shallow when it comes to judging people's perception of what is beautiful. For instance she could never understand how an ';ugly'; lady could have such a good looking husband/boyfriend and vice versa. People like her can never understand the meaning of the phrase. And I sometimes wonder why that is the reason why she has never had a decent boyfriend, she is too obsesse with what is seen as conventionally handsome or beautiful, rather than looking pass that and seeing the other beautiful things a person has to offer.
Every one is attracted to different things, Beauty of form, inner beauty, beauty of the soul, beauty of innocence etc..
This means that it is only the persons who see a person or thing as beautiful that really perceives it and can describe it. It also means that beauty appeals differently to different people, it depends on how you are looking at it
It means that everyone sees things differently, someone that one person might find attractive another may not. It's a bit like ''love is blind'' could simply mean that you chose not to see someone's faults because you love them.
Same as.. ';no accounting for taste';.
I may fancy you for various reasons.
Someone else can't see what I see in you.
Beauty is subjective. What appeals to one person may not appeal to another. What we find beautiful is based on personal preference.
I think you have to measure it against the conventional views of beauty that we hold as a society.
If were talking about people, stereotypical views may dictate that someone isn't attractive or desirable. But to his or her partner they are the most beautiful thing in the world, they appreciate the persons uniqueness and qualities and more or less everything about them - They are his/her idea of beautiful outside and in, people on the outside can't see what he/she see's.
Beauty is seen differently by different people. Finding perfection is about seeing past someones imperfections and finding them perfect. I also think it means we may look at an old woman or old man and just see wrinkles and white hair but their partner remembers how they looked when they were young and because of that they find them beautiful. Also you can apply it to fashion because what people found fashionable or beautiful in the past may not be appropriate or practical today. That is my take anyway, good luck finding your perfect answer.
Like every body has different tastes in food, clothes, cars and so on we also have different tastes in people. One man,s plain jane is another man,s dream girl.
see the beauty on the inside of people not just the shell
it means that different people have different opinnions of what beautiful is. And sometimes someone will consider someone beautiful simply based on their personality rather than there looks because they seem beautiful to them.. make sense?
they mean that someone who is beautiful to them isn't beautiful to someone else and vice versa
it means we are individuals, and look at beauty in different ways.youtube makeup

What exactly is the definition of classic beauty?
pictures would be nice...What exactly is the definition of classic beauty?
anne hathaway is classic beauty i think, or marilyn monroe for sure
answer mine please?
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>What exactly is the definition of classic beauty?
Audrey Hepburn
No one in particular. Clear skin, bright eyes, and shiny hair are all classic attributes. Not having to wear any makeup at all.
i don't like putting pictures of myself on here
I'd say someone who looks very natural - not overdone with caked on makeup or skanky clothes, but someone who looks classy and nice.
Angie jolie!
Sorry, but pictures can't show a lot of classic beauty.
To me, beautiful people shine, and you can tell because their personality goes through their appearance. :)
elizabeth taylor for sure lol

?What tips can you give me on beauty?
To bring out the color in your hair, leave your comditioner in for five minutes. And When you blow dry (If you dont, start with that) Use a brush and individually dry each one, this will make it light anf fluffy, but thick. And if you have curly hair, try Curls Rock by Bed Head. All bed head products are ah-mazing. Anyway, yeah.
don use liquid foundations, it gives u break outs in the long run
eyes- do the smokey eye- go on youtube and type in ';how to do the smokey eye';
lotions- make sure their spf 15 even wen u don see the sun, the rays r still there
use a loofah in the bath, takes away dead skincells and exfoliates
for dark knees or elbows- soak them in lemon juice for about ten minutes
uneven skin tone- get the olay facial toner it works great
smooth skin- massage jhonson and johnson's baby oil on rite after stepping out of the shower wen ur skin is still damp. it moisterizes for 24 hours, do it every day and it will get smother
rough heels- use the ped egg it actually works
lips- victoria's secret lipgloss and put on soft lips chapstick befor that
hair use nexxus heat protexx spray before you syle it or go out in the sun
french nails are great for every occasion
You just have to try stuff out to find out what you like best.
For me its manicures. I love painting my nails and putting lots of lotion after I shave.
Some other ideas are facial kits and cleansing packs from places like Arbonne.com; pedicures; have your mom/friend give you a massage; just play around with new make-up and hair techniques.
Have Fun =D
K. well i have the wave, so i use that. I use nuetragena face cleanser. I have leave in conditioner, gel, and hairspray. Sometimes I curl my hair, scrunch it to make it wavy, or straighten it. And also me and my friends go get manicures and pedicures every few weeks.
It a depends on what kind of hair you have and what you want your hair to do. But Ojon is the best its at sephora. They have shampoos, conditioners, deep conditioners, hair spray, dry shampoo sprays, and styling sprays. P.S magazines like 17 and allure have hair styling ideas.
go do a spa day! get manicures and pedicures with your girlfriends. trust me all the cremes, makeup and s*#%26amp;t sucks. im very minimalist when it comes to a beauty regime and it makes life easier. plus most guys like the natural look.
Uhhmm, be your self?

no most most make-up counters will hire any one and send them to training to teach them make-up techniques. However a little experience helps.Do you need to have gone to beauty/makeup school to work at a makeup counter at a major department store?
No they usually give you training and courses to further your understanding but having experience and knowledge would look good on your resume and be a bonus to the employer.
nope
I think it would depend on what your job is behind the counter. Whether or not you're showing the make up to ppl or actually using it on the customers. I would check it out w/ someone at a local mall.
nope. you should just have knowledge about make-up and a great personality.
they do many personality interviews esp. if you are working commission.

what should i say?For school I have the gift of beauty. I have to say what i can do to help others out with it?
Be themselves and treat others as if they were all had the gift of beauty. Because is only in the eye of the beholder. If one wears makeup, eye shadow, Ornaments, or died or bleached hair, etc. they don't think they are pretty enough. For school I have the gift of beauty. I have to say what i can do to help others out with it?
I agree that you should definitely stress the importance of inner beauty as the most important kind of beauty.
However I disagree with the post above me, most of the time I don't wear makeup and still think that I am quite attractive. I do however love to put on makeup, experiment with different colors of shadow, lipstick, hair whatever for fun. I do think that it enhances my beauty SOMETIMES but mostly its just for fun, so everyone that wears make up or whatever doesn't necessarily think they are not pretty enough give me a break.

What beauty products could you not live without?
Infusium 23 Leave-In Hair Treatment. My hair likes to split so I have to drench it in this leave-in conditioner after I wash it and while it's still wet. I dunno how it works but it smooths out the texture of my hair and seems to slow down the process of my hair splitting at the ends by keeping it moisturized without the greasy feeling. Without this product, I would have to trim my hair every 4 weeks instead 8 weeks. It always leaves my hair feeling like silk satin .What beauty products could you not live without?

Actually many countries do have both a miss universe and miss world beauty contest...one such is jamaica.Olympics is termed as world olympics, why beauty contest is not termed Miss World not Miss Universe?

What beauty salon do you suggest in the Boston-Cambridge area?
and do they do threadingWhat beauty salon do you suggest in the Boston-Cambridge area?
There are lots of good salons in Boston and Cambridge. I go to Your Hair Salon on Mt. Auburn St. in Cambridge (near Harvard Square), owned by Bernice Thomas. Get excellent haircuts at a very reasonable price. I know she does braiding, hair additions, etc. Am not sure what threading is. If it's for eyebrows, she doesn't do that, but she gave me the name of a new place on Massachusetts Avenue that does. (Don't remember the name, but it is about 1150 Mass. Ave.)

I'm so sexy. Girls wont even talk to me. When I talk to them they just laugh, turn there head away whisper in each others ears. Girl, I am in the same boat. My only friend is my bf and any friend of his or someone we may meet who just likes him to try to get in on a threesome to **** me. We both know it, and yes, I'm bi. He isn't though. Girls seem to hate me and whisper and roll their eyes at me too. I can never get a number either or get them to come home with us. I mean, geez. Where are the people like you in this world. I suppose we are few and far between. ; )
careful, your modesty is showing through loud and clear.
i really feel so sorry for you it must be hard to be humble when your perfect in every way.
i can't imagine why girls wont talk to you, maybe bad breath - oops sorry couldn't be that for someone so perfect.

I don't understand - are feminists saying that you can't be equal AND look good? Why are so many feminists opposed to beauty?
I don't know. I can't stand it when girls dress like men. I am all for being equal but i think you should embrace the fact that you a woman and that you can be girly and wear make up and dresses... it has nothing to do with being equal. Strong and beautiful is just fine! Why are so many feminists opposed to beauty?
I'm with Haley on this one. Even if there are inequalities in social paradigms, they shouldn't be defied just because they ARE social paradigms.
I myself love the way women look, and I see no harm in seeing them as beautiful instead of ';emancipated';, ';developed';, ';intelligent'; and ';independent'; - even though I don't necessarily disagree with them wanting to have those attributes.
That is all subjective, while beauty can be caught without subjective relativity on a conscious level.
Seriously; why be afraid to be beautiful or feminine?youtube makeup

What is your STREOTYPE about Cinderella, Belle (Beauty and the Beast), and Ariel (The Little Mermaid)?
2 sentences each, thanks :)What is your STREOTYPE about Cinderella, Belle (Beauty and the Beast), and Ariel (The Little Mermaid)?
Non feminist... Ideal wifey material who knows her place. What is your STREOTYPE about Cinderella, Belle (Beauty and the Beast), and Ariel (The Little Mermaid)?
I would do them; well maybe not the fish.
They are keepers and not hood rats.
Good women; the kind most guys want but know they don't exist anymore. They cook and clean and are appreciative. Not selfish and carrier driven. Family oriented and have expectations of what a man should be, In other words standards.
That should get a couple posts. LOL
Cinderella: She did what she had to do in her situation while she waited for things to get better. She had an unfair advantage with the fairy godmother. :)
Belle: She was intelligent but really didn't have an outlet for her brains. Her heart was pure.
Ariel: She was a bit of a spoiled brat who thought her daddy was out to get her. She was lucky that her bad choices didn't do her in and worked out in the end.
Pathetic female waitng for a man tor rescue her. Always beautiful.
I'm happy my daughter never liked them.
Laela is right... Belle is quite real, similar to my character...
they dream and they all got what they want... its kinda pathetic though, same story but different characters...
Girls with big dreams and a prince always finds his way to them to complete their fantasy. If only real life was life that. ;)
Belle, for example, the one I relate to, coached the beast into being kind without having to resort to forcing him and or playing dirty tactics. That is what I call a strong woman who is not a feminist and does not have feministic ways of thinking.

If you had to eat a tray of maggots in order to have eternal beauty and youth would you do it?
If you had to eat a tray of maggots in order to have eternal beauty and youth would you do it?
Male and Female may answer. honestlyIf you had to eat a tray of maggots in order to have eternal beauty and youth would you do it?
Well... I think for me i would eat it because of my nose....
my classm8s always tease me about it.... T_TIf you had to eat a tray of maggots in order to have eternal beauty and youth would you do it?
I would for eternal beauty, but I would hate to be young for ever. How depressing would that be? It would get to the point where you would be younger than your great great great great grandchildren, which would just be totally odd. And you would see so many people live and die.
So I guess I wouldn't eat the maggots for eternal beauty and youth, just eternal beauty... could I eat half a plate for that?
Honestly? It would depend on whether you can mix with something, like pureed in a drink or some kind of food. And also how many do you have to eat in order to gain beauty and youth. But other than that, I would do it. It also depends on my mood that day.
No, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and youth is overrated. Would anyone actually be that vain? Maggots, ew.
Probably not.
I wouldn't bother with Botox or plastic surgery either. Who wants to live forever - boring!
I care about living and the way that I look, but why change what already is. It's usually not permanent either. You often need more of the same.
edit: Something, like what has happened to Danex, might be the exception to the rule regarding corrective surgery, but nothing else changes.
No I couldn't do it, it's a nice idea but I just could not eat them an besides who wants to live forever, my wrinkles will be a road map of my life.
No... I'd live forever, that'd be awful! My husband will grow old and die, and I'm still here, looking young and fabulous. And my kids too, and my grandkids... it'd be my version of hell!
Honestly, I probably would. :)
NO
Why do you think plastic surgery was invented...
Honestly, yeah.
Its gross but I would do it.
eww no i wouldnt trust the person who said that xxxxx
yep

i would probably have a good go

Male and Female may answer. honestlyIf you had to eat a tray of maggots in order to have eternal beauty and youth would you do it?
Well... I think for me i would eat it because of my nose....

our hearts burn red with the flames of our passion.
battle is over one mans greed war is over many mens love.
our paths shall cross and we shall do battle in a blind fury of passsion and hatred.
fire has the power of beauty water has the power of spirit.
push and pull, ying and yang, twi and li love and hatred all are needed for the other one to exist.
hope this helps :)
Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. That's relativity.
-- Albert Einstein
Once a woman takes off her professional clothing (lab coat), removes her glasses, or loosens her hair's up-do, she's gorgeous--but nobody found her attractive before.
Beauty is skin deep. It's not you it's me. I love you but i'm not IN love with you.

Is beauty really in the eyes of the beholder?
Or is our society shallow and bias?Is beauty really in the eyes of the beholder?
Only to a certain degree. we all have our types, within those types , we've got our limits, It is true when a person has a beautiful sole , they have an aura that seems to make them look better, but this takes a time investment to see. Unfortunately some do not have eyes to see. strangely enough , another with a beautiful soul has the eyes to see.Is beauty really in the eyes of the beholder?
To some certain degree, the answer is yes to both questions. Different people have different tastes. One may like people with ginger hair while others think that ginger hair is nerdy. So beauty is , technically, in the eyes of the beholder. Different people just have different tastes.
Our society is definitely shallow and bias. People tend to not really like ';nerds'; and ';geeks'; and even in school, there are ';outcasts'; cos they have different hairstyles/behaviour/style etc. We are biologically programmed to like people who are more attractive over some one who is ugly. And these days, photoshop, tv and the internet does influence people into redefining the meaning of ';pretty'; or '; attractive';.
beauty is in the eyes of whoever is looking at you, you may appear beautiful to some and atrocious to others...but yes our society is shallow and bias... if u took the average man, and gave him a choice about who to marry who do u think he would choose:
beautiful but stupid/with no morals:
http://www.freakingnews.com/Dumb-blonde-鈥?/a>
or ugly and intelligent/kind:
http://www.aolcdn.com/ch_kids/ugly-betty鈥?/a>
society is shallow, as much as they try and hide it they know its true... We all say ';looks don't matter'; but deep down you only flirt with the ';hot'; guys or girls/feel attracted 2 them...
Its rather sad actually...thanx 4 asking this question! it really got me thinking!
hope I made sense,
xoxo
i used to think it was in the eyes of the beholder.
but now i just think everyone is shallow and bias.
all guys want is blonde and skinny.
they don't care if they have no morals. are dumb. and only care about their looks.
but what about the rest of us who aren't a size 6, have blonde hair and dont think its the be all end all; if our hair isn't right.
we live in an unfair society sortof.
hope that answed your question.
The eye.......Very much so. have you ever watched Americas Next Top Model? Some of those girls are extremely dull looking BUT Tyra and her crew see something others dont and turn them into top models. Also I may thikn one guy is super hot and you may thikn otherwise. Everyone has their own tastes.
Beauty is really in the eyes of the beholder only. This is an universal truth stated by many of the philosophers and well known scientists too.
YES.THIS IS THE TRUTH.TILL THE TIME UR eyes are not beautiful your not pretty.your sensuality. innocence %26amp; sex appeal, all reflects in ur eyes.
Most important things for a woman/girl to look beautiful (on the outside) = Hair, eyes, teeth, skin, lips
shallow and biased.

An eloquent quote or saying about the beauty and splendor of America?
Oh, beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain, for purple moutain majesties, above the fruited plain, AMERICA! AMERICA! God shed his grace on thee, and crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea!!!!!!!!!
Why must i be cursed with such beauty?
I'm so sexy. Girls wont even talk to me. When I talk to them they just laugh, turn there head away whisper in each others ears. One time this girl even asked me what time it was. she was obviousily trying to flirt with me. but she denied it when I asked for her number. I mean damn WHY oH Why was I cursed this way?Why must i be cursed with such beauty?
I have that same problem, except with whales...Why must i be cursed with such beauty?
First of all you cant really control how people react towrads you or even how they talk to you...You are sort of being a little self centered with your looks. you should be flattered. yeah it can be annoying but they want to talk to you. So why dont you take the extra step and talk to them. you start the conversation...dont wait for them to bring something up. and every girl that looks at you or talks to you doenst like you. yeah they might think you are cute but it doesnt mean they want your number and want to talk to you all the time. Just be happy for what you have. Just show your personality to them. if you show them that you have good looks then that is what htey will look at...but if you have a crummy attitude towrads things then it is different.
You just be the unique person that you are and dont worry about how they look at you and if they talk to you or not...
Let me tell you something. When i am around anyone...girl,boy,adult,pretty,handom,ug鈥?anything...i talk to them and treat them the same way as everyone...
so yeahh take care and dont worry about it. would you like it if they never even looked at you or wanted to say hii? nope.
Lol are you sure you're sexy enough?
LMFAO.

A question for someone in the beauty field?
I would like to go to barber school and was wondering if anyone knew the average cost of it plus I was wondering if it would be better if I went to cosmetology school then went after a barbers license?A question for someone in the beauty field?
I've looked into cosmotology schools also. If you want a price you have to directly call the schools, but they run from $10,000+A question for someone in the beauty field?
I don't know how much it costs to go to barber school so I couldn't tell ya. I'd imagine it would be a little cheaper than a cosmetology school. See if you can find some barber schools in your area and check it out :) It doesn't hurt to ask.
Cosmetology will teach you about everything. Hair, make-up, facials and skin care, manicures, pedicures, ethnic hair care, coloring, styling and more. It is a rounded course so you can do about anything in the hair world. It is also more focused around women cuts rather than man hair styles, but you still learn both.
Dunno where you live... but there is a school, Aveda, they have a locations all over i do beleive.. I know starting tuition is 8000 + 200 for books, and 1200 for the hair kit. in the end, for the acadmy, not the institute, you are looking at 10 grand +. It may also vary to where you live.
You can email them and ask for a info package. i did , it is quite helpful.
depending on where you live and what school you chose and if you can get a grant or loan will factor into the cost of school, where iwent to school they offered cosmetology and barbering so you may want to look into that . in florida i know barbers liscense cost more and depending on what you want to do in the industry sometimes barbers have a harder time getting a job in salons.

Is the sense of awe and wonder that you get from seeing natural beauty different than what comes from religion?
or contemplation of your deity?
If so, how?
(obviously, this is a qualitative question)Is the sense of awe and wonder that you get from seeing natural beauty different than what comes from religion?
Not according to William James in his all the Varieties of Religious Experience. The same awe in religion, is the same awe we experiment in a forest or a a sunset, it's just it's directed to religious elements or representations.
芦But religious love is only man's natural emotion of love directed to a religious object; religious fear is only the ordinary fear of commerce, so to speak, the common quaking of the human breast, in so far as the notion of divine retribution may arouse it; religious awe is the same organic thrill which we feel in a forest at twilight, or in a mountain gorge; only this time it comes over us at the thought of our supernatural relations; and similarly of all the various sentiments which may be called into play in the lives of religious persons.禄Is the sense of awe and wonder that you get from seeing natural beauty different than what comes from religion?
One is a sense of wonder at the tremendous combination of natural processes that culminate in the beauty I see.
The other would be attributing supernatural causes to the natural world.
When I stepped to the lip of the Grand Canyon I didn't marvel at how large Paul Bunyan's axe must have been or how meticulous a line God's finger traced through the ground. We already know how these beautiful, marvelous landforms came about and they have nothing to do with a deity.
Well , religion and much of what they taught made me want to only look to survive in nature and only trust myself and no one else. I was preparing for war and did not enjoy life. After much research and in depth study of the Bible in various translations, I came to appreciate the love our creator had in creating things we could enjoy and the ability to enjoy it . The ability to see what's beautiful , to taste good food , to smell the flowers and enjoy the animals at play . What things we experience , as bad about those things, did not originate with our creator . They originated with Satan the devil and his followers. When they are gone then we'll be able to enjoy nature the way it was meant to be. To those that will , point , laugh and mock if you want , it's still worth it . I prepare for war with man no more and live with happiness and peace of mind with full admiration of creation.
I think it is different..Religion only seems to cloud the mind.
But a person can give thanks to God for the creation of it all without sticking it into the box of religion..
Well for me the awe and wonder of natural beauty is part of contemplation of my deities....since I am involved with earth based religion.
Mystical experiences are what Our beliefs are based on. Not just a few books.
my personal experience is that my religious beliefs help me appreciate and even notice it more .. so i see no difference its the same thing ..
Don't stick your gum under my table.
it is more plain for me to see natural beauty

Any Ideas on how to display Beauty Pageant Sashs in Girls room?
get thumb tacks and pin them onto the wallAny Ideas on how to display Beauty Pageant Sashs in Girls room?
Well, I would get a rod, such as a curtain rod, and slide them on there. That way your are hurting them with tacks or pins and you can see then clearly. Then put a shelf above the rod and place the crowns on there. It will look really cute!

The god of love in greek mythology is Eros. I think he's the son of Aphrodite. In Roman mythology, he's called Cupid. I think Freyr is the god of love/beauty in Norse Mythology. I don't know the god of love/beauty in Egyptian mythology, but thegoddess is Hathor. In Hindu Mythology, Kartik is often portrayed as the god of love.
Baldr beauty not love
Frejya, though she is more sex then love.
Sif is known for her beauty as well but is usually linked to crops.

*sigh Feyr is not love and beauty to the Norse. He is of the Vanir and linked to fertility and the earth. Not beauty

Does anyone know a good mobile beauty therapist in london?
i am looking for a mobile beauty therapist who will travel to my flat in docklands/canary wharf every 2 weeks to do nail extensions (either acrylic or gel) and massage. ThanksDoes anyone know a good mobile beauty therapist in london?
Hi,
There is a website which has listings of not only spa and beauty businesses, but also individual therapists which you can search for by location. The site is called Wahanda-
http://www.wahanda.com/
The therapist page is probably the best place for you to look - here's a search on beauty therapists serving London -
http://www.wahanda.com/therapists/pro-be鈥?/a>
I would really recommend SFC Mobile spa- they do both massage and nail extensions and have got loads of great reviews. Here's a link to their profile so you can contact them:
http://www.wahanda.com/pro/Team-SFC/deta鈥?/a>
Return to Glory are also a good mobile spa with good reviews and great treatments

Hope that helps!

any revlon concealer also any maybelline concealer does the trick without making look cakey or thick just a sheer lightweight nice coverageGood drugstore brand concealers to cover beauty marks?
Mineral powder foundation is good, it covers well but still looks natural you just build it to the level of coverage that you need.

Why am I so happy everyday that our miss usa is white female beauty?
See http://www.nbc.com/miss-usa-2009/images/delegates/NC.jpg . Wow, she is beautiful, she is white female beauty. I love her.
What's your ';race?';Why am I so happy everyday that our miss usa is white female beauty?
i am more beautiful...Why am I so happy everyday that our miss usa is white female beauty?
My race is the same as everyone's race, I am considered a European American (White) but I feel as if everyone is the outer race... human.
she is very all-American and one of the few who wore a gown without the slit all the way up. Maybe despite Perez Hilton, we are gonig more towards a conservative America
how is this supposed to be a question? i am white.

Beauty and the Beast gender roles reversed?
Does anyone think that it would actually work with the genders reversed (beast=girl and ';beauty';=guy)? I think it wouldn't, because it seems guys go by looks a lot more than girls do. What do you think?Beauty and the Beast gender roles reversed?
It would be more of an underdog story for sure compared to most movies and TV shows.
But in real life, there are very few women who are just hopelessly ugly. There are more dudes who are hopelessly poor or in dead-end jobs.
That movie ';Knocked Up'; is more unrealistic than ';Beauty and the Beast'; actually. The Beast owns a castle. Ugly rich guys get beauties all the time.
Good-looking high-end career woman having the baby of an unemployed pothead then staying with him? What?Beauty and the Beast gender roles reversed?
i don't think so because girls look for personality and not looks, usally and guy won't find themselves an ugly girl as well as the other girls
you're right. a pretty boy isn't gonna date some ugly *****. if anything the pretty boy would be checking himself out in the mirror the whole time

Does anyone know what makes natural beauty products better for your skin?
Natural beauty products are free of parabens (which are used as preservatives); petrochemicals and their by-products (often found in skin creams, foundations, and lip balms); mercury (in mascara and eye drops); lead (in lipsticks); dioxin (in shampoos and body washes); and phthalates in nail polishes and hair sprays. For more information go to http://www.glow.comDoes anyone know what makes natural beauty products better for your skin?
Think of orange juice...
The one in the store might have added chemicals and sugar
If you had pure orange juice (none of that store crap) it would be more healthy as it doesn't have the extra added chemicals
Same with skin productsDoes anyone know what makes natural beauty products better for your skin?
They don't irritate your skin like how chemically-made products in stores now do.
They don't have chemicals in them such as parbens that have been shown to cause cancer and effect hormone levels.youtube makeup

What do you think about ';physical beauty';?
Do you think we should take it that seriously? What do you think about ';physical beauty';?
There of course must be that first initial attraction and that is based on looks of course but after that initial meeting that is where it should end.
There are millions of what one would call beautiful men and woman in this world but most of them are so fugly on the inside that the only person they will ever love is themselves. Nobody else can stand them after that first initial attraction.
And there is a big difference between being beautiful and being pretty or handsome. One should be proud of who they are, proud of their looks, proud of their health etc...........but someone can be a beautiful person without being physically beautiful. And I would take the beautiful person over the physical beauty every time.
I want the person who is beautiful on the inside. Someone I know cares and will be there for me, that has beliefs and has standards, morals and integrity.
Someone who will teach children morals and beliefs and integrity...not someone who will teach them that outer beauty is going to get you some where in life, that you are better then others because you are physically beautiful, that you do not have to work hard for what you want in this life that it should be handed to you on a silver platter just because you are beautiful.
So NO I do not think that physical beauty should be taken so seriously. There are so many other qualities in a person that out weigh beauty by a long shot. What do you think about ';physical beauty';?
It adds to but not is their character.
Depends on who you are.
If you are the opposite sex, then you will want to find the most diversified genes, which is found in the prettiest people. They suffer from less genetic disorders and can withstand more diseases.
But those issues can be outweighed by personality. A strong personality can compensate for all those issues. That is why women will choose men with strong personalities who are not as good looking. These men, if they are strong and competent, can take care of a family much bettter than a person who is never sick but is lazy and wussy. Men generally do not think of attraction in this way, because they can just drop their seeds and go. They don't HAVE to stay around and take care of the child where as the woman does. Therefore, looks and visual pleasure is stronger for men. That is why visual pornograhy is popular with men and romance novels are more popular with women.
If one is desired by mates in a community, chances are that they will be protected and listened to. Therefore they command more status and respect automatically. Whether you like it or not, this is factual. They did a study on the news. Two normal looking reporters, and two supermodels tried to ask for change with people on the street. Guess which set did better. If you associate yourself with higher status people, you will raise your status and others will want to be associated with you. This gives you a higher chance of survival/success.
This is all subconscious, but I believe should be taken seriously. Because most people are not run by conscious logic. They are run by emotions and instinct. Therefore, do the best with what you have. Dress well, take care of yourself, and try to look your best and act your best confidently. But life is different in modern days, and while these prehistoric rules still apply somewhat, they are not as significant. Personality is much more important these days. And happiness can be found without supermodel looks. So while looks should be taken seriously, they should not be taken as seriously as your personality which can be absolutely wonderful, more desirable, and more satisfying than a good looking superstar.
We need to take care of ourselves but the most important part of us is the inside. there's nothing wrong with being pretty but we need to know that inside is more important. Just remember that, and you'll be fine. One more thing, don't overdo makeup or dress really inappropriately or attention-seeking. that's important NOT to do.
Physical beauty is a blessing if you have it and a curse if you don't.
attraction is the key word...because to some people beauty is only skin deep. As long as your attracted to the person thats what really matters. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Its always great to look your best but not all of us were born models.
Its good to take it seriously but it shouldnt count for everything. Physical beauty is probably part of what attracts you to a person because if you're not physically attracted in one way or another, you're probably not going to want to strike up a conversation with the person. At the same time, if you think someone's totally hot and you start talking to them and then it turns out that they're a moron, the physical beauty means nothing. You need to have a balance of both but initially, I do think physical beauty IS important.
I think it does to a certain extent, like if you were out to pick up a chick/guy you would approach someone that you see as attractive not someone that you think looks like they have a good personality, but at the same time you wouldn't stay with a horrible person just coz they're hot.. would you
I think we take it too seriously. Have you ever watched the Twilight Zone? There's one that takes place in the future where everyone goes through a process that gives them a beautiful face and body. This one girl doesn't want it done to her, and everyone is trying to force her. She's not a really beautiful girl, but she's pretty and sees nothing wrong with herself.
I think we should take it physically.
We appreciate people for talents, being naturally smart or artistic or working really hard at something, therefore I don't see anything wrong with appreciating someones beauty either.
No I don't.
yeah...America is a fatty country...sad to say..
no, its what's inside that counts the most.
I personally don't think it should be took as serious as it is took in today's society.
If your a guy, most go for the typical blonde, with green or blue eyes, that nice tan etc.
I think that everyone is beautiful, some just have better genes then others.
People judge people so much these days til it is ridiculous.
Don't judge people just by there outward appearance, Its what is inside that matters the most.
Wouldn't you agree?
that even though some say it doesn't matter, it does alot, sometimes off course!
yes we should
not too serious
but looking presentable helps a relationship
now if i weigh 120lbs and all of a sudden i go to240lbs
i don't think my girl would like that
vise versa
In my opinion, I think physically beauty is so over rated and people now a days are simply forgetting the real beauty. Beauty is what comes from the inside by your friendliness and your actions towards others. Society has focused so much on physical beauty so much that we are destroying the mind of our young adults. Society puts the definition as beautiful as skinny, tan, blond, and tall which is leading to emotional problems, depression, eating disorders, and even death to the young adults striving to be ';beautiful';. Be yourself and let your beauty show from the inside. Imitation is suicide I say.
most of american takes it seriously.
Heck no. Beauty is within.
i think you should take it seriously enough to like have like good hygiene, and to take care of yourself (your health). But as to obsessing about it, i think that beauty is from within. And you should try to be the best person you can be, instead of the best looking person you can be.
you have it or you dont.
it shouldnt be the only thing you have.
personality is just if not more important.
BUT..no one sees that.
NO NO! take care of our health serious but dont go crazy with superfluous beauty.. looks are not everything!
i think beauty comes from the inside not the out side so who cares.
maybe not but we should look good to and most of all we should also have a good attitude

I'm not sure in England, but here in the US you can get a great french manicure for $10-$35. I couldn't imgaine it being that much more in the UK.

Who are your favorite youtube beauty gurus?
personally, I like alsun129. http://youtube.com/alsun129 she is pretty and knows her stuff, but she's new and not very well known.
I love juicystar07 a lot too but she only shows stuff that she got for free and seems like a spoiled brat. Do you agree?Who are your favorite youtube beauty gurus?

I like alsun129 too!!! She has good videos, I think it is better she is not well-known.
I also like peacelovepink04 and TheBubbleGumPrincess.
And at least juicystar07 is a nice girl, unlike her sister allthatglitters21.
Her sister, is really a b*tch. I saw her on blogtv, and she was being really mean to another girl that was with her. Juicystar07 might be really spoiled which IS annoying, but at least Blair is a nice girl!

i like juicystar07. although i like her the best out of other youtube gurus, i have to agree she AND her sister do the spoiled brat thing..
I like small, less well known people. They're so much more down to earth and not full of themselves like the better known ones.

What do you think biggest beauty mistake women make?
Looking like pastries.
Too much foundation, too dark blush on and too much eye makeup and dark lipstick= the perfect dissaster. What do you think biggest beauty mistake women make?
They don't have a clue on what makeup shades/styles look best on them
They don't have a clue about which type of clothes to choose for their body type
They go crazy and hence overdo plastic surgeries
They tend to wash their hair the wrong way (every day, instead of every other day), therefore overdrying itWhat do you think biggest beauty mistake women make?
1/2 the time the mistake is thinking they're not beautiful.
the other 1/2 is all the war paint.
(Seriously ladies sometimes there is such a thing as too much of a good thing)
Cosmetic surgery. Greatest risk factor of looking beautiful in terms of the perception in general.
1 TATTOOS
2 Artificial hair dye eg blue hair or black and blonde hair
3 Unnatural makeup eg green eyeshadows
I have to agree with the guys. Too much make-up. And the wrong clothes for their age too. Looks silly when a 45 year old woman wears a belly shirt.
beauty surgery
falling for the scams and spending hundreds of dallars on, so called ';age reducing'; creams... like as if!
i think that we women shout and complain too much about being ugly. well false eye lashes are ugly
Orange fake tan.....
implants -- ick!

What is your favourite fashion/beauty magazine?
Hello,
Honestly, none. That's because the images and certain things in them are sometimes portrayed in an embellished way, not real, not true, and or nothing more than that of fake. The more real, the better. Well, at least for me anyway.
Magazines are made and printed to sell. It's sad to say, but it's all about making a sell. What is your favourite fashion/beauty magazine?

As described on the question, my first visit to a salon will be tomorrow, all you girls who have been there what do you think will make it worth the while?I'm going to a beauty salon tomorrow for the first time! What do any of you girls recommend me to get?

What influences does david beckham have on fashion and the hair and beauty industry?
not to sure if he has much now i know he had more when he played at manu hes not really in the news as much as he was back thenWhat influences does david beckham have on fashion and the hair and beauty industry?
none in the USA. He's too European for American guys to follow the trends he sets. What influences does david beckham have on fashion and the hair and beauty industry?
He has had none on me whatsoever. Thought he was a supposed footballer not a fashion icon. With the money he has he should concentrate on the game.
He does not have any influnence at all. Everyone wants to look and dress like him.
with David Beckham being one of the most famous, if not he most famous footballer known everywhere his influence over fashion, beauty and hair has increased! Little children, mainly boys, that aspire to be him believe that his hair cut and fashion is what made him so great so they follow it. Hence why we see boys of young ages and teenagers wearing the same hair cut that David Backham was spotted with that week before. Beckham changes his hair every five minutes so it becomes sort of a fashion trend to keep up with him.
There is also his influence on fashion as he wears sponsored clothing when playing football and therefore advetises those companies, mainly phone companies. He also wears brand names and that makes those sales sky rocket. Beckham has been asked to do a number of commericals for clothing and the like. His most famous being the Gillette advert for the shaver and gel which boosted sales incredibly after 2 months of it being aired!
His new fragrance, with his wife Victoria, has caused a great riot to buy it in the shops as it is seen as the sought after thing.
He has a massive influence on the beauty and fashion world, mainly becuase of his job and his television appearances.
Hope that helps.
Not so much now he's moved to LA. infact I think Move over David Beckham - here comes Lewis Hamilton

How Can I Organize My Beauty Area In A Creative Way!!!!!!!!!!?
this includes.........
jewellry

hair stuff (especially my irons and dryer)
bath and body stuff

thnx! =)How Can I Organize My Beauty Area In A Creative Way!!!!!!!!!!?
I personally use a different basket for each type of item. Hair accessories %26amp; products in one, perfumes %26amp; lotions in another, etc. Maybe get a few that you can hang on the wall as well as ones on the counter. You can get coordinating baskets at Michaels craft store, Pier 1, Marshall's.How Can I Organize My Beauty Area In A Creative Way!!!!!!!!!!?
Have you ever seen a picnic sorter? It is usually wicker, a rectangular basket with one long side, and the other divided in three. You are supposed to use one side for napkins and paper plates, and the other for knives forks spoons. But it makes a great sorter for a couple different things. I have used mine for mail, and hair stuff.
I line up my products on the long side, and use the short ones for my hair dryer nozzle, my combs and brushes, and (back in the early 90's) my curling iron. It holds everything beautifully.
For jewelry you can use ice cube trays. They stack, and they are roomy, and cheap. You can attach pierced earrings to a sheet of bare plastic canvas (stiff crafting plastic, you sew it with yarn), earring on one side, back on the other.
You can use a banana holder for chains and bracelets.
Bath and body, you can use a cleaning caddy...for spa stuff that you only use once in a while. Carry it with you to the tub and then tuck it away when you are finished so your quick showers aren't interrupted by an avalanche of cascading tubes.
They have tiny little refrigerators now, even smaller than dorm size. They are like the size of a cube case of soda. If you had that, you could store your makeup, face products, medicines, ointments, anything in it with an expiration date that you keep in the bathroom. Imagine a facial mask straight from the icebox...woohoo!

DO you have any secret beauty tips?
Can you share your little secrets with me?
Here is what I do to keep myself looking my best:
1. wash my face only every few days, never with soap
2. vasaline on my feet with socks over them to keep them soft
3. brushing my hair out in the shower with condicer
Thats only a few!! Now whats yours?DO you have any secret beauty tips?
1. Always take off my make up before bed
2. Use moisturising night cream every night to keep my face soft
3. Drink lots of water to look refreshedDO you have any secret beauty tips?
Yes.
Want soft skin? What you do, Is get some salt in your hands, and put a few drops of water, with rub your hands together. This was remove the dead skin, and make your skin baby soft!
Wear VERY VERY thin eyeliner, because it spreads throughout the day. It will look normal later.
Keep getting razor burns? Well, What you do, RIGHT after you shave, is put baby oil where ever you know you'll get razor burn, but make sure you have it ready for use, because razor burn can rise fast.
:) Thats my top tips.
put sweet almond oil in your hair, leave overnight and shampoo twice in the morning, conditioner lightly.
This gives unbelievable gloss to your hair, esp when done regularly!
erm, only use moisturiser on the parts of the face that really need it, otherwise I get spots.
If you have curly hair don't ever brush it! Ever! No exceptions!! Detangle with fingers or a big comb.
Of course..every girl does.....
tip #1 love yourself.
tip #2 wash your face everyday...not with soap...
tip #3 brush your teeth.... use listerine.
tip#4 dont brush your hair when its wet....when you do start at the bottom...
tip#5 to whiten teeth brush them with baking soda %26amp; water.*do not swallow*
tip#6 Dont wear liquid foundation...
tip7 always wear sunscreen
tip8 lemon juice makes hair shiney*
tip9 rinsing your hair with cold water right after you condition it also makes your hair shiney!*~=)
Stay natural..Stay YOU. =)
I..
1.) Wash my hair everyday with conditioners to keep it as red and colorful as ever, so if I go brown one day, it'll be all shiny in the morning..
2.) ...I.. use my genes to stay beautiful, and go with the flow?
3.) I once took a bath in milk.. and my skin has been reallyreallreallyreally(x89) soft since then.

What is the absolute WORST beauty product that u have used?
Blistex Deep Renewal-- supposed to have moisturizing as well as anti-aging qualities.
Believe it or not, as it would wear off, it made my lips MORE chapped than they were already.
I tossed it as soon as I figured out that it was the BLISTEX, not the cold weather, that was making my lips so dry...
DON'T BUY BLISTEX DEEP RENEWAL!What is the absolute WORST beauty product that u have used?
i've used this concealer that was in a green tube and was supposed
to cover the redness of blemishes and i put a small amount on and
it turned part of my face greenish so I had to wash it off. What is the absolute WORST beauty product that u have used?
Neutrogena- Some face powder to foundation compact. It went on my skin and was super flaky looking, made me look like I had peely skin on my face.
MAC studio fix make-up and powder. The worst feels like your wearing a mask. Cracks when you smile. Made me break out alot!!!
anything from Karma Beauty.
There are tons...
Nair - made my legs all red and crap
Any thing that lightens hair... BAD. always go to a salan when lightening....
theres many more i just cant think of em...
a blusher from poundland (it was rimmel! :O ) it left my skin al glittery and i had to redo my make up
HAiR LiGHTENER!!! omgg dont ever do it!! idc how much u wana make ur hair lighter just dont ever use it...
Primark Spray On Tights/fake Tan.

What shampoo should I use- beauty overload!?
I have like 5 bottles of shampoo in my bathroom, and I'm not sure which is the best one for me to use. Here's what I have:
Equate Dandruff Shampoo
Garnier Fructis Dry/Damaged
Suave Professionals Awapuhi
Aveda Sap Moss
Tresseme Anti-Breakage.
Redken All soft
I have brown, curly hair. It's kinda bushy, and its dry, and I want to keep it curly, while giving it moisture and protection. tell me what to use and why, and I will give you the best awnserWhat shampoo should I use- beauty overload!?
use the sauve professionals shampoo. i also have brown curly hair and it gets it all moisturized, soft and it also volumizes.i use it and it works greatWhat shampoo should I use- beauty overload!?
Sunsilk Hairapy De-Frizz
use treseme conditioner and shampoo, but get the moistorizer stuff. I go swimming lots and my hair gets dry but this stuff really keeps it moisterized and looking healthy
Through it all out and get L'oreal's Nutri gloss. I used to be a shampoo/conditioner junkie too but now it's the only stuff I will use!!
Sunsilk Anti-Frizz. ( The green bottle ) Works like a charm. (:
Dont go out and buy anything expensive.
First: Purchase a mild Shampoo (To Clarify hair, I will explain why)
Second: TRIM your hair ends (May 1 1/2 to 2 inches)
Third: Here's the magic part: Mix olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil, avocado oil and a ';little'; honey, (honey u will have to heat so it can blend). Either leave on ALL day or all night (if all nite, DONT use honey)
Use a teaspoon of every oil and honey,.... a little more if ur hair is long or a little less if ur hair is short
Repeat this 3-4 times a week, your hair will grow like a weed, fortify, reconstruct, moisturize, soften %26amp; remove all frizz I promise,..... and it will be super shiny!!!!
The clairifying shampoo will help take the oil off your hair when u shower
You can also use a conditioner but get a light conditioner that wont wiegh ur hair down, becuz u can over condition, I use herbl essences ';clean happy'; conditioner.
When I do this at nite, I wake up, shampoo %26amp; condition, rinse and style as usual. Has worked for years
You can find olive oil anywere, but the other oils you will have to buy at a local organics store, wholes foods or BJ's health corner.

Why do we now think beauty is the most important thing?
cleopatra made very powerful men fall in love with her, even though she wasnt at all beautiful. what she was, was very inteligent. why do we now prefer someone with goodlooks than smarts? Why do we now think beauty is the most important thing?
To me beauty isnt the most important thing. Whats most important is whats in the inside. A relationship wont last long just because you like them because of their good looks.
PeaceWhy do we now think beauty is the most important thing?
I guess cuz they feel like a big man on the block if they are seen with somebody who is ';beautiful';....I think we're all beautiful in our own right...we all cant be 6 foot blondes with blue eyes..its better that we're all different !
Well beauty has been changes through out and people have different views of what beauty is. The most important thing to know is that if you are healthy, you should feel beutiful. You need confidence also. Have a strong character and you are right intelligence is very important. Every generation is born with a new aspect of beauty and it comes from many factors ads, family, Television, Magazines etc...
As a man, I am going to disagree. While MOST do look first at beauty, I am more concerned with how smart you are, can you carry a conversation? Are you fun to talk to? Do you treat me right? (of course speaking in generic terms here) And I really think that your personailty should be what people judge you on, not your beauty. Beauty fades, a sweet demeanor lasts a life timeyoutube makeup

What are the reasons why beauty pageant doesn't empower women?
Hmmmm answered this question beautifully above, but I just wanted to add this thought -
When little boys are growing up, they are often told that they can grow up to be the President. When little girls grow up, they are most often told they can grow up to be Miss America.
How do you think that affects the way that little girls think about themselves and their minds versus their bodies? What are the reasons why beauty pageant doesn't empower women?
Many feminists regard beauty contests for women as ';cattle markets';, degrading to both viewer and contestant, which enforce society's objectification of women.
Critics have particularly objected to swimsuit rounds, in which contestants wear only swimwear and high-heeled shoes. In addition, the common view of ';beauty'; in these pageants as represented exclusively by unusually thin women has been questioned. In response, Mo'Nique's Fat Chance, a beauty pageant for overweight women, has aired on the Oxygen network since 2005.
Many national 'Miss' pageants have come under heavy criticism and some have been the subjects of direct action. High-profile complaints were made against the Miss America contest in the late 1960s, and contests in Finland attracted controversy for requiring contestants to wear only lingerie, some of which was diaphanous enough to clearly display genitalia. Many of these contests were held in venues where inebriated males made grossly inappropriate comments and even sought bodily contact with the contestants. After one contestant refused to comply, public debate forced the organisers to abolish this requirement.
However, the lingerie shows were reintroduced in 2007鈥攊nitially with contestants wearing black bodysuits underneath the lingerie, but this was strongly disfavoured by those involved, and shows now compromise by having revealing daytime shows but using bodysuits for night shows, at which audiences are more often drunk and unruly.
Contests regularly attract demonstrators, particularly if they violate local religious or cultural practices. In Nigeria, for example, many Muslims viewed Western-style beauty contests as immoral, because the female participants are typically not dressed modestly. In 2002, the journalist Isioma Daniel wrote an article criticising Nigerian Muslims for their objections to the 2002 Miss World contest, which was to be held in Nigeria, and suggesting that the prophet Mohammed would not have objected to the contest, and ';would probably have chosen a wife from one of them';. Public rioting in response to this article killed 200 people, and a fatwa was issued against Daniel. Consequently, the event was relocated to London.
After the murder of JonBen茅t Ramsey in 1996, concerns have been raised about the propriety of beauty pageants for children, and the psychological effects they may have on young contestants. Critics see the ';Little Miss...'; genre as a possible lure for pedophiles, although there is little documented evidence of this. In reaction, there has been a surge in more age-appropriate pageants for children, without provocative costumes, flashy d茅cor, and heavy makeup. HBO aired a documentary about child beauty pageants titled Living Dolls: The Making of a Child Beauty Queen in 2001, which won an Emmy. In 2006, the film, Little Miss Sunshine was released, portraying a dysfunctional family on a road trip taking the youngest member of the family to a beauty pageant. The film earned critical acclaim all over the world, earning plenty of awards and nominations, including four Academy Award nominations and winning two. What are the reasons why beauty pageant doesn't empower women?
Because it is setting a standard for beauty. Basically they say this is beauty become it or be ugly.
It makes women have to comform to what society wants for them, instead of becoming who they want to be.
they are only based on looks. you wont have your looks forever and girls in beauty pageants only base their life on their looks. so when they lose that what else do they have left...nothing. they focus so much on outer beauty they forget about inner beauty.
A woman should be proud of her accomplishments, not just her looks, interview ability and worst yet, her congeniality!
Prizes for being NICE! How pitiful.
When was the last time Miss America said something bright in an acceptance speech?
It's isn't about being intelligent or respectable, it's about looking hot in a bikini.
Yeehaw.
It probably empowers some women. I think the whole thing is odd.
I wouldn't mind watching a beauty pageant for men myownself!
Well, the not-so-good looking ones won't feel too empowered, if anything it would make them insecure.
if more women learned how to eat right and worked out, more of them would look like the pageant winners.then it would be empowering for them. problem solved
I don't know why it doesn't. They have a crown, a sceptre and men falling at their feet. Isn't that power?
Can you say ';meatmarket';?
How about ';objectification';?
It's called jealousy; a much more powerful emotion than most know.
Because only ONE contestant can win.
That leaves the other 20 or so feeling insecure.
one reason: its stupid.
