Why arent there Muslim Hijabis women competing in the Miss Universe beauty pagent?

Why have i not seen a single hijabi woman competing in Miss Universe. Its not impossible... She can wear a modest Evening gown. A modest Burqini (hijabi style- bikini swimsuit). All with the hijabs on.Why arent there Muslim Hijabis women competing in the Miss Universe beauty pagent?
Why should another country join in the deplorable actions of objectifying women's sexuality? The countries that shun this practice are the ones with sense.Why arent there Muslim Hijabis women competing in the Miss Universe beauty pagent?

would u like ur mother or ur sister to be in bikini in front of the other people whom do u not know and they judge her figure in front of u what would u gona to do.
Maybe they can't afford one, or maybe they don't want to have one. It's okay anyways!
Because they have common sense on not joining a stupid contest, or because they don't want to.
since you aren't a religious muslim who practices her deen in the proper and correct manner than you will never understand why no self respecting muslimah would parade herself around. it's a beauty contest so how is she protecting her beauty or her modesty. it has nothing to do w/extremists at all it has everything to do w/your emaan and the following both the qu'ran and sunnah. i'm an american muslimah who wars niqab and all. what i have is for my husband to see and him only. i will make dua' for you that you do start caring a/b YOUR emaan. the problem is that so many muslimah's are so enthralled with the kufar lifestyle that you forget a/b what sets us apart from them and the blessings that we get for dresing the way that was prescribed for us in the qu'ran and sunnah. i'm proud and happy to be a muslimah. when other muslims question our way of life it just shows how weak some muslims are. don't call your self a muslim if you only choose some parts of islam and reject the rest. it's called being a hypocrite. and what is modest a/b a bikini.you might as well go outside naked. lebon isn't 100% muslim. they also have a large chrisitan and jewish population. so more than likely she was christian or jewish. just to clear that up. and the people calling muslim men chauvinists should really stop beieving what you see on tv. the extremist and those who wrongfully promote terrorism make it bad for those of us who practice islam correctly. like i said i'm american and so is my husband, we do have the freedom of religion and we chose islam.
What kind of question is this? They are probably as good looking as anyone else but they are not supposed to show anything but their eyes and hands so exactly how would that work out?

I don't know. I was wondering the same thing when I watched the pageant. A representative from Lebanon was there ... I'm quite sure Lebanon is largely Islamic ... not sure what the deal is.





Many, many African countries were also absent. I suppose perhaps the country's leaders have to sign off on their representative.

If it really is just a Muslim thing, I'd still like to know what Miss Lebanon was doing at the pageant.
It is considered haram(unlawful) in Muslim traditions.
I can't believe the muslim answers equate to her not being looked at by strange men so she doesn't get raped. Victims don't cause rape. Criminals rape and that is the only cause of rape. Only rapists should be held accountable for rape, not a woman's hair or whatever the nonsensical victim blaming is. As to the original question you know darn well it's all about saying women, regardless of how intelligent they are, are to be considered pretty bodies. And you know darn well that's illegal to muslims unless they're trading women.
Muslim county's have Islamic Law. (shariah) It says if a women reveals her body tooooooooooo much to a man that she is not lawfully related to, she will be stoned or put out in public with her naked.(i think! The first one is true though!)


They only get punished with the consent of the closest male (First Husband, Father, brother, Uncle, Father-In-Law It should stop there!!)

The truth is the men won't let them. The modesty factor all fits inbetween the lines; along with the fact it's unlawful according to Islamic laws and traditions.
She would probably get stoned to death afterwards. Would you want to take the risk??? Not me.

Because Muslim women believe in *modesty*. Many of them don't particularly WANT the ';liberation'; of being judged by their bodies. I can't speak for women who are made to wear the burqa, but there are plenty of Muslim women in the US who choose to dress modestly, because they feel it is part of having good values.
The pageant is run by infidels!
Because Muslim men are shovinistic pigs,and the women have no choice in the matter.
Becase most islamic countries dont allow it. These beauty pagents do require that you show skin... and lots of it. Do you think that a hijabi woman would win if she showed no skin????
Muslim women have problems competing not only in beauty pageants but also in events such as the recent Athens Olympic Games. Most of the time the problem is related to the clothes they wear (the clothing they would wear would restrict their movements and make it hard for them to earn medals). or even the other competing countries (I am not sure but some muslim countries do not allow members to compete against Israel).


Some conservative Muslims say the contests defy Islam's edict requiring public modesty in women. Other Muslims frown on men or women flaunting their sexuality and say exposing the body is degrading. Still others oppose pageants on feminist grounds, considering the contests as throwbacks that objectify women.


Summarizing, I propose that beauty pageants should be more than just perfect exposed bodies but also a contest of intellect and knowledge. Beauty and intelligence complement


each other. Finally, I would support the idea that, based on these two attributes, people could vote for their favorites. This would eliminate the biased view of the judges

It's haraam because a Muslim woman has to be fully covered when she is outside and she shouldn't reveal her beauty to any man who is not her mahram(male guardian like husband, father, son, or father in law). Muslim women are valued for their minds and not their bodies. If a Muslim woman were to participate in something like that it might cause her to get a bad reputation as a tramp and cause embarrassment for the husband and her family. It might cause her to do something bad like have sex with another man and she could be raped or judged on her appearance.
